Hello Everyone!

Today's news update has a lot of little tidbits from all over the interwebs:
1) I just noticed that my interview with Chronicle Books, where I spent half a year as a publishing fellow in 2007, is finally up! Hooray!

The fellowship was a great learning experience that I continue to glean from even today as I move projects to press, especially when there is no production artist to assist with the processes.

While they don't seem to have my selected works up yet, you guys can already see the best of the work I've done while with them under my work (egypt, dance, playboy, backroads) and play (xoxo, aiga) sections.

2) In other news, I've been keeping busy the past few months learning CSS on my own as well as doing some freelance for Plus (formerly Plus et Plus) and some simple web-design/web-site building for TANE organics and my animator friend, Ashley.

For Plus, I've been helping out with some more The Electric Company material and helping them prepare the files to go to press. The designs by Laura and Jenni look great so hopefully everything runs smoothly with the printers and there'll be some awesome stuff to show you in a few.

3) I've also finally become a member of AIGA NY. I know, I know, how could I have designed something for AIGA a year ago and not be a member?! At any rate, I couldn't decide between NY and Philly given my current location, but I chose the city I identify with most for now.

It's great to be part of a national network of other designers and see there are agreed-upon industry standards that benefit both the designer and client in the long-run. I've also already taken part in some of their free-seminars, which is a pretty awesome side-benefit I had no idea about until I joined.

If you're a client, take a look at the standards of professional practice AIGA graphic designers like me will be living up to everytime we collaborate, and if you're a designer, network with me!

4) Oh and this just in! A website with a quick header I designed (everything above the top menu) for National Public Health Week at Rollins School of Public Health (Emory) just went live as I was typing up this newsletter!

I tried to go with the identity (see right) and branding they already established in their materials as well as integrate Rollins' logo in the header's announcement and look. It isn't much but it's always fun to see your work out there!

Thanks to Josh, my web-programming guru, for this fun opportunity!

Well, I hope you enjoyed the glimpses of what I've been up to as of late and getting a preview of what's coming up here! I still haven't heard much feedback on the newsletters so I'm hoping it's working out well for everyone! It's still never too late to let me know ;).

xoxo,
-d*ro
