Informed and Delighted

I attended AIGA’s private screening of “Milton Glaser: To Inform & Delight” tonight and jotted down a few gems from the follow-up Q&A session with Mr. Glaser and Ms. Keys:

Design Update

A small break in my schedule means a quick breather and much-delayed design update!

I’ve received some more copies of the work I’ve done for Forrester, and while I’ve decided to wait until I can give a full year’s retrospective (coming this fall), they’ve kindly given me the go-ahead to post a testimonial of my work for them thusfar:

Despite the fast pace and complexity of our projects, Dorothea meets every challenge with professionalism and an extraordinary commitment to a delivering excellent results. Her reliability and flexibility, on top of her design talent, make her a valued contributor to Forrester’s Events marketing program.
-Eileen, Events Marketing Specialist, Forrester Research

I also have a wedding invitation suite that I’ve designed for happy couple Mark & Mbong to share:

Pretty in…?

AIGA membership card.
left: old design
right: redesign

I just received my new AIGA membership card in the mail yesterday and while I was really happy that they enacted a system to update cards with a new sticker every year instead of a new plastic card (go green!), I was somewhat taken aback to discover this magenta piece of (recycled) plastic staring up at me for what will now be an eternity.

It ain’t easy being green

Recently I took the opportunity of a new project to look into greener printing solutions and, being relatively new to orchestrating the whole production process myself, learned a LOT along the way. Now that the project is nearing completion, I thought I’d outline some of the things I’ve learned this round, as well as some resources I’ve come across in the hopes that others might add to or benefit from one small designer’s efforts in being green.
